Southern Amaryllis - Pure Solids Scrappy Version

I never quite know how to start these posts...so let's just dive in. This is the cover sample for Southern Amaryllis, the scrappy version! This pattern includes this fat-quarter/half-yard friendly version as well as uniform version made from yardage with all matching blocks - be sure to check out the post for that one as well!

It's one of my personal favorite throw quilts because at 18 fat quarters, it lets you bring in so many different colors and/or prints that mix and match throughout the blocks. Cait had free reign with this beauty and it was so fun to see what combos she put together.

This sample also features the curve-less option in the pattern, an easy swap if you're not feeling the curved accent pieces.

This muted color scheme was delightful - sandwiched between the rainbow First Crush remake the vibrant Blue Phlox, it was enjoyable to work with a totally different vibe.

It's hard to pick a favorite block - but that pink, navy, and green one in the corner is one of mine! That's the best part of this quilt - it's one of the few truly individual block based mix-and-match styles in our fleet. Spending time matching up combinations you love is part of the process!

Oh, and did we mention each block is 20"?! Once you're done piecing the quilt comes together quickly and simply. Better still, we've been known to make accent pillows using just one block.

This quilt had to be done on a time timeline before our first spring quilt show, so Cait quilted it beautifully with a large stipple. We back this one and it's sister sample (the uniform version) using an Ikea duvet cover. This is a great budget friendly option - one duvet cover is enough fabric to back two quilts.

Here's a better view of the difference between the curve and half-square triangle accent options. There's no different in fabric needs or even cutting instructions, making it an easy substitution. If you're new to curves, this pattern is a great place to start (I can attest...it was my first foray into curved piecing!) since the sashing ensures any inaccuracies blend right in - there's nothing to line up.

We hope you enjoy this soothing color palette as much as we do - you can find all the colors listed below if you want to recreate it!

Happy sewing!
Rebecca and Cait
