Southern Amaryllis - Pure Solids Uniform Version

When we set out to color this Southern Amaryllis sample, we decided to pull our favorite colors from the scrappy version we planned first. Later, it was a happy accident it also was a nod to the first uniform version we did in print a while back! Gotta love pink and green together, right?

Southern Amaryllis includes two versions - this is the uniform version with all matching blocks and shows the curved accent option. We also write for a fat quarter/half-yard friendly scrappy version and a curve-less option you can add to either version.

If you're new to curves, this pattern is a great place to start (I can attest...it was my first foray into curved piecing!) since the sashing ensures any inaccuracies blend right in - there's nothing to line up!
Once you're done piecing the quilt comes together quickly and simply with these big 20" blocks. Better still, we've been known to make accent pillows using the blocks as well! One of the best parts of making a "uniform version" quilt is how I can sorta mentally check out and chain piece without worrying I'm losing my spot or mixing up my colors. It's the sort of meditative sewing that is really nice as a way to wind down and relax my brain.
We back this one and it's sister sample (the uniform version) using an Ikea duvet cover. This is a great budget friendly option - one duvet cover is enough fabric to back two quilts.
We were working quickly on these samples, so I used the trusty big stipple to make quick work on the long-arm. I personally love this panto - the resulting drape is fantastic while still giving a lot of texture.

Southern Amaryllis will always be a special quilt for Cait and I - it was the first pattern we re-worked and published together, so it was extra fun to re-visit it and give this pattern a solids glow-up two years later.
We hope you enjoy this project as much as we have!
Happy sewing!
Rebecca and Cait
