Blue Phlox - a bright scrappy version in Pure Solids
How's this to get you excited for summer! This bright, vibrant Blue Phlox sample is such a turnaround from the original winter-themed quilt made years ago. It had been a long time since we sewed one up, and I forgot how friendly it is!
Blue Phlox is a beginner friendly pattern that includes two variations - this scrappy version that is fat quarter/half-yard friendly and a uniform version with all matching blocks.
Something about the modern geometry makes this one really shine - but what I really love is the large spaces in the blocks that work well with large and small prints just as nicely. (Scroll back to the top and follow the link to the winter version for an example!)
We had a lot of fun pulling our favorite colors against the contrasting background and accent. It was so hard to choose!
We were a bit worried about what to back it with until we found this great Ruby Star wide back! It had all the colors in it (including that fun electric yellow-green!) and the same modern whimsy vibe as the front.
After a run of stippling, Cait quilted this one with a flowy cloud panto that we also love. It has great texture while still being loose enough for a drapey quilt.
We picked out two favorite color combos from this sample and made the uniform version sister quilt. That plum and light salmony color (grapefruit, actually) was such a happy combination.
Pumpkin, the newest quality inspector in the studio, gave it a pass.
Cait and I agreed, these samples came together quickly and the final samples turned out so fun! We can't wait to see what everyone else sews up!
