First Crush - Tricolor version in pink and red

Friends, we are almost to the end of our nearly two-year endeavor to recolor all our cover samples to solids! As we tackle each pattern, we also end up improving or expanding patterns as we are able - First Crush was one that had a major expansion during its turn on the design board!

When the quilt debuted several years ago, it was simply a scrappy charm pack quilt. Over time, we have built it into the ultra-versatile pattern it is today, with three distinct style variations and fabric requirements, including charm packs, layer cakes, fat quarters, and yardage. I think if we packed any more into this classic beginner quilt, we'd have to sell it as a book.

This sample is the Tricolor version - using only two colors + background. As we were making the scrappy and accented versions of First Crush we pulled our two favorite colors for this quilt - a dusty pink and burgundy.

Honestly - who's shocked? We love a pink quilt.

Because we didn't have any color distribution to think about, this darling quilt came together really quickly. First Crush uses a classic disappearing nine patch block, making it very beginner-friendly.

We backed it in a burgundy cotton sheet and quilted it with our trusty big stipple stencil. I think my favorite part is the crinkle in the binding when it's freshly washed.

We love the idea of turning this version into all sorts of seasonal quilts, or even a lovely low volume neutral version! What would you make?
