Wild Soul in a wintery AGF fabrics
This Wild Soul version is one of my favorites, and was made as a Christmas gift for my mom several years ago.
I used a mix of Art Gallery Fabrics prints from Little Town (Amy Sinibaldi), Sparkler Fusions (AGF Studios), and Blithe (Katarina Roccella). The soft pink and blue paired with moody darks were just perfect for a winter quilt that doesn't scream "SANTA IS COMING!" I was going more for a lovely "walk in the snowy woods" mood. :) I had to really dive into my scrap bin for some of those, as they were long out of print! And that is one of my favorite features of this pattern, how scrappy/ stash busting it can be!
I even lit a Christmas candle when I made the blocks - for someone who's normally pretty Scroogey, this was a surprising show of festiveness.
Quilted by Nicole of KwiltIt! in Cables - love this panto for snuggly winter quilts.
Oh! Yes. That IS a white backing. Soft, cuddly, white minky! My mom has no children living in the house anymore, so it was a safe bet. :)
It's hard to see in pictures, but the background is a lovely Essex linen in silver metallic. It was my first time sewing with Essex, and I really enjoyed it. If you've ever sewn with Moda's Crossweave, it doesn't unravel nearly as badly! (Though more-so than regular quilting cotton.) The extra stiffness was nice when piecing, though with a few washings and snuggles this quilt will be as soft as any.
This one was so hard to let go of! Definitely one of my all-time favorites. I think I say that about all of them though...
