Southern Amaryllis moody baby version

Cait here -

When we were planning which version of this pattern we would use to showcase the triangle modification, we decided to design a baby quilt for my son. I wanted to feature the dark colors you don't traditionally see in a baby quilt. I immediately fell in love with the deep teal floral from the Fancy That Design House collection for Moda called Woodland and Wildflowers and planned the quilt around that! Not only is that print stunning but it is also the same teal of his bedroom walls.

This is the uniform version of the pattern, with all matching blocks, using the triangle modification included in the pattern.

The local quilt shop we were shopping at - with all four kids in tow, chaotically - had the green-on-blue floral and brick mushroom print from the same collection and a coordinating yellow from Dawn on the Prairie by the same designer.

I decided on Moda Chambray in gray for the background and Kona black for the accent fabric, keeping to her dark theme. Then to break up the mostly solid edges, I chose to bind the quilt with the same teal feature floral.

Early morning sewing on Her Majesty got this quilt bound in less than the time it took to get through my morning cup of tea.

I quilted it using a leaf stencil on our Bernina Q24 long-arm with a luscious Shannon Cuddle minky back in Mallard. This was the first time I had tried this stencil and we both agree it was a very successful test run.

One of my studio cats gave it the seal of approval.

And the baby and puppy...they are rapidly growing up and out of both phases. Pretty sure they both call this sweet quilt their own.

We ended up really in love with how this quilt turned out, and are absolutely smitten with the fabrics. This pattern is so perfect for showcasing beautiful prints and large scale fabrics.

Happy Stitching, Cait
