Indulgent in Modern Backgrounds Luster fabrics
This quilt is a reach back and revival of the archives - and now a FREE tutorial!
Indulgent Twin Size Quilt Tutorial
Long ago, this pattern came about because I had a layer cake of Modern Backgrounds Luster that I tried to destash THREE TIMES. I finally decided to write a pattern that was fast, easy, and would use a layer cake as well as more common fabric cuts such as fat quarters/quarter yards. This quick project was the result. I sewed the top in a day! The large blocks are super simple to piece and work great with both large and small scale prints - this version uses small scale metallic fabrics and the quilting really pops! (I also sewed a large-scale print version in a dark background - Indulgent Woodsy fabrics.)

The quilting is the real star of this quilt - Nicole (KwiltIt!) did a large-scale Clamshell Mushroom on this one and it instantly gave it a Great Gatsby glam feel. I love it. So, so much.

How perfect was this backing?! I had just barely enough of this print from Rifle Paper Co. left to make it work, and added all the leftover gold squares from the Luster layer cake to squeak out the right size. It had all the right shades of blue gray and gold in it! The was my first time doing a pieced backing and I like the added interest!

Happy sewing!
