Grow Wild - soft pink version
After making the throw size sample for Grow Wild in scrappy, visually dancing fabrics I was antsy to try a toned down version for my cousin's new baby. I absolutely adore this scrappy soft pink monochrome!
I used various pinks from my scrap bin, almost all from different Art Gallery Fabrics lines over the years. The accent fabric in the sashing is a lovely low volume text print and the background is my trusty Moda Chambray in black.
Most of my baby quilts get Shannon Cuddle minky on the back - it's taken a lot of work to improve my skills with it since it's heavy, slippery, and frankly a terror to have in the sewing room! But it's worth it - soooo soft and delightful.
Because minky is so stretchy, I quilt it densely and always on the grain of the cotton fabric, so for this quilt that was on the diagonal. A plain white binding frames out the prints - I tend to use a solid binding when I don't have borders to calm things down.
I adore this quilt, and it has me thinking about using up my overflowing blue scrap bin for another!
Happy sewing!
