Calendula in True Blue

I. Adore. This. Quilt.

It's blue. It's big. It's soft. I quilted that minky back on my domestic machine and am so happy with how it came out. This quilt is perfection for me.

My husband is 100% going to try and steal it. I love him...but I'll fight for it.

I stashed a layer cake of True Blue by Maureen Cracknell as soon as it released - it has two of my all-time favorite floral prints in it as well as a color scheme I love. (Next, can we get this in green?!) I haven't made a quilt with a white background in a while but a crisp, cool white made the blues just pop.

And my goodness - a quilt this big with one layer cake and one yard of accent fabric?! Yes, please! This is the twin XL size.

My last attempt to quilt a throw size with a minky back on my domestic machine was an epic failure. I've practiced a lot since and have had several baby quilts turn out beautifully, so in a spurt of confidence I spray basted this thing to within an inch of it's life and buried myself under 1000 lbs of heavy quilt. Simple straight lines using the seams as guides turned out really, really well - and my arms were sore the next day.

Cait and I are thrilled to re-introduce this pattern to you as Calendula by The June Thimble - and I can't wait to get this one on my bed!

Happy sewing!

Rebecca and Cait
