Cabin Frost in Rainbow Ombre

This was the very first test quilt for Cabin Frost - Cait made a series of vibrant rainbow quilts from the Wild series and while not typically a rainbow quilt person, I really enjoyed hers! I decided to break out of my normal colors and try a bright, happy rainbow quilt of my own.

I had a jelly roll of V and Co ombre fairy dust for a long time, packed away for with my youngest daughter in mind. I pulled out the jewel tones to test the jelly roll instructions included with this quilt, and paired it with Kona black sashing and Kona white background.

What I love about this quilt is the secondary design made by the sashing. It modernizes a very classic log cabin block and creates opportunities for all sorts of color play. The sashing is constructed right along with the blocks. so the assembly is a breeze!

We pulled the yellow forward with a minky back and Cait expertly quilted it with a large stipple stencil. We love that panto for it's ease and loose drape.

Bound with some leftover yellow that coordinated beautifully from Fancy That Design House.

My six year old has already begged to keep this one...at 54" square it's a large baby quilt, so it might be the perfect size for her little reading chair to snuggle into!

Happy sewing!

Rebecca
