Callisto in scrappy Bonnie and Camille
This pattern! The challenge that launched them all! In 2017, Amanda (Jedi Craft Girl) and Amber (Gigi's Thimble) hosted an Instagram contest to see who could design the best quilt using only five fat quarters and up to two background fabrics. Not a tiny mini-quilt either - it had to be at least 34" square! While this wasn't a winning design, it ended up launching the idea of getting into pattern design.
Initially named after the woman who taught me to quilt - Becky Jo - this quilt is still a humble celebration of The June Thimble's beginnings as RebaLeigh Handmade. What started as a traditional scrappy quilt was expanded to include a modern two-color version and re-launched as Callisto.
I was bound and determined to quilt this one myself. It took me almost TWO YEARS since I pieced it to finally get around to doing so, but you have to start somewhere! I learned a lot making this one, and she eventually went to live with her original namesake. It's one of those quilts I wish I had taken more photos of!
For this version, I used Moda Bella white background, five fat quarters from Bonnie and Camille's Vintage Picnic/Handmade lines, and backed it with a gorgeous floral from B & C's The Good Life.
These large 20" blocks are great as stand-alone projects as well - I've made a mini quilt and pillow from this pattern. (There's also a mini-quilt version of Callisto that uses a 12" block if you're looking for something smaller.)

Designed as part of a "five fat quarter challenge", this sweet throw quilt can be as classic or modern as you'd like by using all your favorite fabrics. The pattern includes two versions - a scrappy version and two-color version.
