First Crush in Authentic Etc

This quilt is another oldie but goodie that somehow never made it to the Project Blog! This version of our First Crush pattern was made several years ago for a dear friend of mine. I had recently discovered the absolute delight that minky backed quilts are and needed a quick project in time for her birthday.

Much like the Chestnut Street version I made first, this one placed all the green fabrics in the center blocks so the smaller squares were all black. I loved the tonal green of this Sweetwater line called Authentic Etc - a follow up to one of their most popular lines. (All of this faaaar out of print at this point anyway...)

Quilted by Abby Latimer of Latimer Lane Quilting in Modern Hexagons. It showed up so pretty on the minky!

I love getting little glimpses of my old sewing studios! This quilt was made when we lived in Colorado while my husband and I still tried to share a space...before he ended up moving his office to the basement. :)

This is a very satisfying project - it's beautifully scrappy and colorful while being simple to construct. It's my go-to recommendation for a fun brand-new beginner quilt or when you need a quick finish.

Happy sewing,

Rebecca
