Callisto - Holiday uniform version
Callisto was the first pattern I ever published, a long long time ago in what feels like another life! I wrote it as part of a challenge to write a quilt pattern using only five fat quarters and background. When Cait and I co-founded the June Thimble and updated/expanded all the legacy patterns, we wrote a uniform version to pair with the scrappy Callisto!
We used all three of these fabrics in our 2023 holiday collections we took to local markets - we both fell in love with that metallic gold I used in the star. It's much shinier in person and sets the glittery holiday feel for this quilt.
This pattern uses an 8-at-a-time method for half-square triangles, which makes the sewing a bit faster. I've learned over the years some quilters prefer a sawtooth with HSTs, and others with flying geese - this pattern intentionally utilizes exclusively half-square triangles. It can feel like a lot of trimming (if you choose) but every single seam nests for perfect points.
Quilted with 1/2" straight lines on my Juki - nope, that's not the flattest feed I've ever done but we have a saying in this studio..."It all washes out in the crinkle". For this quilt, done is beautiful and I'm not about to curate perfection in our portfolio! We are designers with countless quilts under our belts and sometimes our fabric shifts and pulls all the same as anyone else!
I truly can't wait to lay this one out under our tree this year - in our family, we always spread out a quilt to sit on while opening our gifts Christmas morning and this is the perfect one.

Designed as part of a "five fat quarter challenge", this sweet throw quilt can be as classic or modern as you'd like by using all your favorite fabrics. The pattern includes two versions - a scrappy version and two-color version.
